With the production "Dreamteam" the Cologne-based ensemble uBu explores ways to remix dreams and utopias through the mediums of music and dance, turning them into the foundation for new visions of community.
From March 6 to Mai 23, uBu invites the public to contribute to a playlist over the course of one month—with music that is personally connected to dreams and utopias.
uBu then develops musical and choreographic strategies to engage with the abundance, diversity, and contradictions of these musically represented dreams and utopias, transforming them into the concert performance “Mutants in Music: Dreamteam.” This performance will take place on May 23 and 24, 2025, at TanzFaktur Cologne and on May 31, 2025, at resonanzraum Hamburg.
Rather than filtering out a “common denominator” from the variety of playlist contributions, uBu draws inspiration from the pluralistic approach of Cologne composer Bernd Alois Zimmermann. In his works, Zimmermann masterfully wove together genres, styles, forms, eras, and artistic disciplines—creating music in the 1960s that was both visionary and strikingly relevant today.
